The first three weekends of April were Star Wars Weekends at Legoland California, and the 501st and Rebel Legions were again invited to troop the events! Legoland is always great fun, so I was happy to get Leia-ed up and join my fellow Legion members. I ended up trooping both the opening and the closing days and had an awesome, if slightly exhausting, time at both. :) While I didn't take any pictures, Rachel and Lesley got some awesome shots!
It was really cold on opening day. Really cold.
We always start off the days at the park entrance, to take pictures with guests:
Tiny pilot is tiny!!!
Then we went over to Miniland for the rest of the day (with periodic breaks, of course).
Padme and her decoy seem awfully happy about seeing Maul...
Ah, that's better!
I was one of the judges for the children's costume contest on opening day. This little Aurra Sing took third place-- she was fantastic!
Also I got to hold this baby WHO WAS DRESSED AS AN EWOK AND CUDDLED ON MY SHOULDER. D'awwwww.
Toward the end of the day, we positioned ourselves near the exit so guests could get their last pictures. Girl power!
Jeffrey came in his Grievous costume. Let's just say he was popular.
Pretty Pony Princess Squad, aka the princesses, queens, and handmaidens of Sunrider Base! And Randy photobombing us.
And a really awesome shot that Rachel got of me:
Closing day was very different-- the park wasn't nearly as crowded and there wasn't as much going on, so we were able to do silly things like go on rides in costume!
When we went on the helicopters, this young guest climbed right in with me! She was adorable.
Luke, meanwhile, was excited to find his Red 5 copter...
...maybe a little too excited.
Then Luke and Leia got into a car fight. Just a little sibling rivalry!
Luke spies some talking penguins!
Also we found a dryer that looked an awful lot like a Star Wars hallway. And it's for families!
I found me!
There was a band playing Star Wars songs in Miniland. Luke conducted for a bit. Also we danced up a storm. (No pictures of that last bit.)
And then we went on the spinning teacups. Or whatever they call the teacups at Legoland. And Shawn and Lesley both learned why you ride the teacups with the Skywalker twins at your own peril. (Andrew and I always have a great time hamming it up as Luke and Leia. "Daaaaad! He's picking on me!")
And that was the end of Legoland Star Wars Weekends 2012! Can't wait for next year!
